Fauna Brand Refresh

The Challenge

Fauna was a fast-growing database startup aiming to attract large enterprise clients. However, their existing branding lacked the polish and sophistication to match the quality of their product. The challenge was to refresh the visual identity while preserving a sense of continuity with the original. The color palette and imagery needed a clear update, but with enough familiarity to maintain brand recognition.

My role: Design

The starting line

The existing design felt outdated, with uneven visual balance and a lack of the professional polish expected from an enterprise-ready brand.

The process

The first step was redesigning the brand mark into something more balanced, modern, and visually refined.

The next step was selecting a typeface and color palette that felt modern while ensuring strong contrast and legibility across all applications. After exploring a range of options, a lowercase sans-serif typeface proved to be the strongest choice.

The final product

The final logo - with background elements for the updated Twitter card.

The logo also works well in white, standing out cleanly against dark backgrounds.

The brand mark remains clear and recognizable at all sizes and across all applications.
